There is something for just about everyone at tonight’s Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) Board meeting. It all starts at 5:30pm at the County Supervisors’ Chambers, 70 W. Hedding St., in San Jose. Here are directions by transit or automobile on getting there.
We apologize for the inconvenience. We have had an unusual number of cancellations or routes being placed in service later than scheduled due to a shortage in personnel. Unfortunately, this was the case with the trip you were attempting to board. -TH
Ever wonder why your Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) bus or light rail train sometimes does not show up as scheduled? VTA has a shortage of drivers, that’s why.
More on what is going on – and what YOU can do to get VTA to resolve this latest crisis – is below.
View public input and discussion at tonight’s VTA Board Of Directors’ meeting.
I will personally bring up what VTA is doing to address the driver shortage it currently has. One result of that shortage: no service for a few hours on the light rail line between Ohlone-Chynoweth and Almaden in both directions.
Light Rail Line 900 (Ohlone Chynoweth to Almaden) not in operation, please use Bus Line 13 or bus bridge in place – Details at https://t.co/mw52NjATYH
I’ll see you at this evening’s Board Of Directors’ meeting – now at the VTA Auditorium at 3331 N. First Street (off River Oaks) due to a labor union strike and protests at the County Offices.

The transit riders are starting their fight back. On September 5, more than 20 people made themselves heard at the Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) Board Of Directors’ meeting. Their prime demand: reallocate 2016 Measure B funding that would have gone to highway construction, to fund increased bus and light rail service in Santa Clara County. View the video above (starting at the 26:00 mark) for how these people – myself included are fighting back.
A HUGE “Thank You” goes to those who spoke up at the September 5 VTA meeting. A story on San Jose Spotlighthas more details. A follow-up letter will be sent to VTA management inquiring on the date and time of a workshop where reallocation will be discussed.
This weekend, we will have additional tips on how people like YOU can help make public transit in Santa Clara County better for everyone.

A big “Thank You” goes to more than 20 speakers at last Thursday’s VTA Board Of Directors’ meeting. More information on that meeting, other news, and what YOU can do to make public transit better, will be posted soon.
