Here’s your weekend update for Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) and Caltrain service to various cultural, sports and recreation events like NCAA Baseball in Santa Clara, San Francisco Giants baseball, and HempCon at the San Jose Convention Center.
Sports Scene
Stephen Schott Stadium at Santa Clara University hosts the NCAA Men’s baseball “Super Regional” series between Dallas Baptist and Cal. The series is a best 2 games out of 3, with the winner advancing to the College World Series in Omaha, NE.
Schott Stadium is one block east of Buck Shaw Stadium on El Camino Real at Campbell Ave. in Santa Clara. Game 1 is Saturday night at 5pm, and Game 2 is Sunday at 7pm. If necessary, the third and deciding game will be on Monday, with the start time to be determined as needed.
Use our San Jose Earthquakes Transit Guide for information on VTA buses like the 22, 522 Rapid (except Sunday) and 60 in addition to Caltrain that serve Buck Shaw Stadium. When you reach El Camino Real at Railroad Place after getting off the bus or train, walk one long block east until you reach Campbell Avenue. (On the way, you should pass Buck Shaw Stadium’s George Best Gate on the right side.) The stadium will be on your left, and may have its lights on for television purposes.
On the pro baseball end of things in San Francisco, the Giants face the Cincinnati Reds today at 1:10pm and on Sunday at 5:05pm. Caltrain has special service to and from all Giants home games at AT&T Park, only one block north of Caltrain’s San Francisco terminus at 4th & King.
HempCon
In San Jose, the medical marijuana convention show known as HempCon takes place at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center thru June 12. VTA’s 23 bus line and light rail (at Convention Center station) are a short walk away from the event. If you’re coming to HempCon from San Francisco or the Peninsula, take Caltrain to the San Jose Diridon station, then transfer to a Mountain View-bound VTA light rail train and get off at the Convention Center station.
Special Note
When riding light rail and/or Caltrain to either of these events, make sure you buy your ticket(s) first at the ticket vending machines at each stop before you board. If you’re caught without a ticket, you can and will be fined!
Have a nice weekend!
