It’s time for another Bay Area sports team victory parade. On Tuesday, the Golden State Warriors won their fourth overall NBA title, beating Cleveland in six games. The Warriors will have their victory parade celebrating their first NBA championship since 1975 in downtown Oakland on Friday starting at 10am. Oakland officials will allow the crowd to gather along the parade route starting at around 5am.
Because of the parade, expect traffic gridlock conditions in the downtown Oakland area all day Friday. To address this issue, BART will run extra trains with rush hour service all day to (safely) transport fans to and from the parade route.

Details on Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) and Dumbarton Express (DB) connecting buses to BART trains to the victory celebration follow below.
Know Before You Go
VTA express bus fares are double the normal (local) bus and light rail fares. Also, know the BART ticket fares between Fremont, Union City, and Oakland, and back again, before you go. If you must take another bus or light rail to reach connecting express buses to BART, consider buying an express day pass on the bus you board or at ticket machines at VTA light rail stops.
Phone numbers, website links and fare information to help you plan your tip:
- BART – phone # is (510)465-2278. use the BART fare calculator to calculate the round-trip fare from Lake Merritt or 12th Street Oakland stops
- Dumbarton Express– call “511” from within the Bay Area, and mention “Dumbarton Express” when prompted. Fare information for the DB bus line between Palo Alto/Stanford and Union City BART station.
- VTA – phone (408)321-2300 – here’s their local and express bus fare information.
- Need additional trip planning information? Use the Google Trip Planner for bus, rail and/or bicycle travel to and from the victory parade.
Have and use a Clipper regional fare card? Make sure you have enough money and/or proper passes stored on the card before you go.
Paying cash only for your transit fare? Be advised Dumbarton Express buses and VTA express buses only take exact change. See the fare information at the transit information above for details on how to use your Clipper card at these agencies.
BART has additional information on how to get home after the parade ends. This will include extra staff to help you buy round-trip BART tickets at Fremont and other key stations. To arrive at and leave the parade safely, please follow all instructions from BART staff and law enforcement officials on hand! Their job is to keep YOU and others safe on what should be a happy day for everyone.
From San Jose or Milpitas
Two of several express buses from the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) take you to BART. Take the 180 express bus (from eastern San Jose or the Great Mall in Milpitas) or the 181 express bus lines (from San Jose Diridon Station) to Fremont BART station.
From Fremont BART, transfer to any northbound (Richmond, Daly City or SFO/Millbrae) BART train to Lake Merritt station. From the Lake Merritt station, walk the short distance to the main victory celebration area. Law enforcement officials – or fellow parade-goers – will show you the way from Lake Merritt station.
From Palo Alto/Stanford University
Take the Dumbarton Express (DB) bus from the Stanford Oval or the Palo Alto Caltrain Station to Union City BART station. From Union City BART, take any Richmond, Daly City, or SFO/Millbrae train to Lake Merritt station, then walk the short distance to the main victory celebration area.
