Quarterly Bus Service Changes Today

Today marks the start of many Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) bus service changes. Find out how YOU are affected in Santa Clara County as of today.

Attend Silicon Valley University? VTA will have an extra 180 northbound bus at 9:05pm from Lundy and Fortune in San Jose. This extra bus will go directly to Fremont BART station, and runs Monday-Friday when school is in session.

What do YOU think about this set of VTA’s quarterly bus service changes? Please comment below.

On behalf of the Silicon Valley Transit Users, I want to wish everyone a Happy Safe (and Sane!) Fourth of July.

For July 4, VTA will run extra light rail trains into downtown San Jose to support the fireworks show in the downtown area. VTA will also have increased light rail service to support the fireworks show at Great America Park in Santa Clara, which is set to start around 10pm.

Also, Caltrain will run extra trains from San Francisco after 11pm to support the fireworks show along the city’s piers and docks.

The San Jose Giants are in town hosting Visalia this weekend. Fireworks shows occur after both games, which start at 6:30pm. Our guide lists VTA bus service to and from Municipal Stadium which help you beat the expected traffic gridlock before and after the game and fireworks.

Stay safe and sane today and this weekend!

Special Group Meeting On Tuesday

Due to a prior space commitment, our meeting was moved to Tuesday, June 30 at 6pm. We’ll be at the San Jose Peace & Justice Center, 48 S. 7th Street in San Jose. It’s a block from the San Jose State University campus, and a short walk from VTA’s 22, 522 Rapid, 63, 64, 65, 72, 73 and Highway 17 Express bus lines. It’s also 1 block from San Jose City Hall and is a 5-10 minute walk from VTA light rail at the Santa Clara station.

Agenda topics include:

  • proposing future times, dates and locations for our group meetings
  • an update on a proposed guest for our next meeting (VTA Board member Dave Whittum)
  • an update on our work with the VTA’s “Envision Silicon Valley” group in the effort to have a transit sales tax

Can’t make it to San Jose June 30? Call (415)655-0001 at 5:55pm. When prompted, use the meeting dialin code 190581606 then press # button on your phone.
