Happy Veterans Day 2014!

thank you veterans

On behalf of the Silicon Valley Transit Users, I would like to wish you – and all of our current and retired Armed Forces – a Happy Veterans’ Day!

As a reminder, many public transit agencies are running on a regular weekday schedule today. Examples include but are not limited to:

  • Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA)
  • Caltrain
  • BART
  • SamTrans
  • AC Transit
  • San Francisco MUNI

Also, many VTA bus lines serving downtown San Jose will be rerouted to support the city’s annual Veterans’ Day parade. The VTA bus rerouting will occur from 9am-2pm today.

Once again, please enjoy Veterans’ Day today and keep yourself safe and sane!

Open House in Sunnyvale This Evening

Sunnyvale City Councilmember – and VTA Board Member – David Whittum invited us all to an open house VTA is having in Sunnyvale from 5:30pm-7:30pm. Live or work in Sunnyvale, Mountain View, Palo Alto, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills or Cupertino? Tonight’s open house in Sunnyvale is something you must make the time to attend and SPEAK UP if you want better transit service in the area. –eugene

Yes, They Heard You

Transit-wise, yesterday’s first San Francisco 49ers pre-season football game at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara was much improved from two weeks ago.

Additional details – and more improvements that need to be made – will be posted this evening.

Not Yet Ready For Prime Time

Bus and light rail service to and from Levi’s Stadium was received with mixed reviews. On August 2, the first sporting event at Levi’s Stadium took place with a soccer match between the San Jose Earthquakes and the visiting Seattle Sounders. While the Earthquakes won the match 1-0, some fans took several hours to get home from the game. I was personally there to observe getting there to – and from – this historic event.
